A COMPLETE GUIDE TO RAISING A GENIUS CHILD

THE JOURNEY TO HOME SCHOOLED.

Nursery 1 was a total walk over for her because I had taught her every she needed to know in class at home such that as soon as she gets to school she's super bored, placed her head on the desk and sleeps off.

My husband and I approach the school to accelerate her work but they explained that it was impossible because, although she was a genius and may have gotten over all the work, it is unfair to other regular pupils who weren't geniuses, and may even be struggling.

We reckon that's true but also realize it is unfair to her also, to have so much capacity yet minimize, unfair to her who work so hard yet wanting to keep her in a box.

As a result, When the term ended, we concluded it was time to remove her from school and put her in an environment where she can achieve more, thrive exceedingly, her potentials harness and ultimately maximized.

First, we put out a vacancy for a science inclined tutor, only after we have done our research, bought relevant textbooks and other relevant learning materials, separated the living room and turned it into a classroom, set the time table for three subjects per day, Mathematics as most frequent, three uninterrupted hour, and the following week, the teacher resumed

A COMPLETE GUIDE TO RAISING A GENIUS CHILD

HOME WORK.

Homework otherwise known as Assignment is an integral part of helping a growing child becomes truly academically successful.

Never come to a place where your children's homework will be undone, one of the spouse's should be available to see that this happens.

As my daughter's education progresses, I see to it that every assignment is THOROUGHLY done, also making sure the previous ones are THOROUGHLY marked, else, I'll be in school the following day asking questions. The class teacher knows this.

I also made sure to always check her bag to see that she didn't lose any book or forget any in school.

Gum is constantly in our library, tattered books has no single space in my daughter's education, we keep them tidy and glued, she knows this and would keep her stationaries properly.

By doing that, I was able to communicate the importance of keeping her books, also sending a signal, that education is a top priority and must be taken as such. She could understand how much I valued books so it naturally stuck that there must be something special about books, school, education, if Mummy takes this personally.

We never threw away books, we got cartons and safe keep every single one. Sometimes she goes to where we kept them now and read over and again, and she'll be like "Mummy, that topic we were treating that day, look it's here!".

Your child must get to a place where they know what you appreciate. At that point, if it good, you become their role model, if it's also bad, you also become their role model.

Children mirrors us, so be careful what you do around them and be bold to reiterate and embolden good things to enable them learn positivity.

I hated to see my daughter score 4/5 and she was fully aware of this disposition as a result, assignment remained a collective effort. We would solve each problem expressively, no rush, and whenever we go out of answers we consult Google or call subject incline family to enquire.

Once she arrives from school, I bathe her with cold water, fed her before insisting she naps.

I'm fully aware that sleeping helps calm the brain so we make it a point of duty to inculcate that into her regime. After all, health is wealth, conclusively, sick child is not a worthy candidate of a classroom.

FIRST CONTACT WITH SCHOOL.

Her (Oreva) first contact with school was when she clocked 3 but I had already done most of the underground work.

I was not a working mum at that time so I made sure we utilize my temporal presence.

I began teaching her how to read 1-50. We didn't own a chalkboard, so we improvised, purchased chalk and wrote on the wall in the living room.

When it was time for enrollment she was admitted to KG 1 on the ground that, although she could read 1-50 she couldn't write yet.

This assertion didn't sit well with her Dad, the man was dissatisfied😁, he wouldn't take any negative feedback about his daughter, Never! Even up till date.

πŸ‘‰Your ward's win must be your priority. Never let anyone say otherwise, truth is, they are counting on you to make the decision on their behalf.

I could remember vividly the stern look he rendered the school owner and I also remember signalling pleads with him to let's take the verdict in good fate but he didn't bug.

It was later he informed me he was expecting a direct enrollment to KG 2 so that explains his displeasure.

However, we stuck a deal.

"If she is able to write 1-50 before the term ends she would move to KG 2", the school owner agreed.

We paid for after school extra lesson, but sadly, one week since extra lessons, she still couldn't write anything, not even figure 1.

"Does this mean the teachers are not doing anything?", her father thundered angrily.

We requested for a refund and saddled ourselves with the responsibility of training her ourselves. Best decision of our lives!

πŸ‘‰Parents should be responsible for their children, don't leave your ward's success to the hand of a gardian/ teacher/school only.

More often than not, we are the most preferred candidate for the job, these strangers, I doubt can do it better than you, YOUR CHILD not OUR CHILD. (Hope that resonates and drives home a point).

πŸ‘‰The buck of the onus is on you if you want speedy and progressive academic and moral result.

We went aggressive and we both took turn on training her. We bought tracing books, 2A, 2B, 2C and by the middle of first term, she single handedly could write figure 1-50 and also read it effortlessly.

This provoked the promotion without delay, by the end of the term, she was the only pupil in her class who achieved it and was promoted to the next class within a term as promised.

Worthy to note, her feats is the fundamentals of what is done in KG 2, (nursery rhymes, reading and identification of letter, recognition and tracing of number and she aced them all).

A COMPLETE GUIDE TO RAISING A GENIUS CHILD

THE BEGINNING.

Do you know that in the foundation of my daughter's academic success, lays obedience?

We fly by instruction.

-Bishop David Oyedepo.

When she was smaller and she wanted to start writing, it was challenging because I was left-handed and she was right-handed but we were determined, so I decided to use simple instructions to achieve our aim.

I introduced simple command, "Stand up", sit down, come here, go there, bring it, drop it, come, go, take, put it down etc", and she obeyed.

On a side note, There's no disobedience child, the culture of early imbibing is what is missing.

After that, it was super easy to tell her, "Place the tip of your pencil here, (on a book), pull it down,  yay! That's figure 1, see!!!😁"

We both would exchange a big smile.

"Place your pencil here, turn it like this, curve, like a C backward,  then throw it away! Yes! That's figure 2".

"Good girl!".. I'll hail a positive reinforcement briefly".

I also wasn't the only person involved, her father was full participating.

And yes, I also had to introduce cane at some point, What is African parenting without a little spank or even a big one?

Don't let the westerners deceive you, even the bible recommends a rod, also, when you train up a child in the way that he/she would go, he/she won't depart from it.

Trust me, once they understand it, you won't have to repeat it again as it naturally becomes a part of them.

πŸ‘‰In other words, Obedience and active involvement of both parents is the foundation and first key of growing a solid academic success for your child.
