COMMONLY MISINTERPRETED SCRIPTURES
HEB 4:12
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any TWO-EDGES WORD, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
A lot of believers would often think this scripture talks about an actual sword but in reality, the sword the bible is referring to here: Is the Bible Itself. A sword usually would have the sharp and the blunt sides so most believers would think it is clearly referring to a regular sword but it is not.
Many believers who has probably read this scriptures all their lives would usually think that basically, since a sword has both blunt and sharp edges, the two-edged is that. However, the scripture likens the word of God here, Two-edges as MULTIPURPOSE, that is, can be used for many things. So the concept of two-edges that Apostle Paul speaks of here is not contextually a two edged sword but that is reliable for many situations.
That it is why it is further clarified in 2 Tim 3:16, that,
"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness".
It is important to let the Holy spirit open our eyes to the scriptures rather than read letter for letter or plainly. Only then can it profit us.
I hope you've learn something profound today.
